Global sensation 'Baby Shark' creates YouTube record with over 10 bn views

'Baby Shark' is no more just a song for your kids. It has become a global sensation and has inspired a new movie among other things.
A video of two children performing a shark song titled 'Baby Shark' has become the first video on YouTube to receive more than 10 billion views.
'Baby Shark,' which was posted by a channel called Pinkfong and initially released in 2016, is now in the most watched category. It is the first-ever YouTube video to reach the 10 billion views milestone. Pinkfong, which is a kids' channel with short songs and stories, uploaded Baby Shark Dance on the platform on June 18, 2016. The song was then adapted into the Nickelodeon pre-school series Baby Shark's Big Show in 2021.The video shows two cute children, a girl and a boy, singing and dancing to the song while Shark animations splash across the background to complement the words.
Hope Segoine, a Korean-American singer, sang the song in the Baby Shark video when she was 10 years old in 2015.
Baby Shark has also inspired the making of a movie based on it. The moving is currently in the works, according to reports.
What's surprising is that the Baby Shark video has surpassed the super-hit song Despacito from Puerto Rican music sensations Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's. Despacito now ranks second on the video posting platform.
Meanwhile, Pinkfong has devised an intriguing way to commemorate this occasion.
The station has asked children from all across the world to share their favourite 'Baby Shark Dance' memory.
On its Facebook page, the channel stated, "Today we mark history with our special milestone!" The video 'Baby Shark Dance' became the first in history to receive 10 billion views on YouTube! Join us in celebrating and sharing your Baby Shark Dance moments!"
